  1. My husband has a reoccuring dream about me leaving him and killing him. We have a roommate that he dreams that I leave him for the roommate and then kill him to get out of the marriage. What is wrong with him? Deanna

  2. Hi Deanna,
It sounds like your husband might be having some feelings of being left out…are you and the roommate really close, or do you spend a lot of time togther? Sometimes murder in a dream can imply angry or upset feelings; is it possible that when you and hubby have an argument, you turn to the roommate for consolation? These kinds of dreams can feel really disturbing but are usually an emotional indicator of what’s going on, not something literal to be afraid of. Let me know if any of this applies. If he is feeling left out, it might be a good time to start including him more and let each other know how much you appreciate one another.

  3. i had this dream a couple nights ago where i was living on platforms in the air, there were other houses just the same as mine. there was a major storm coming that would destroy these houses and there were only 2 planes to get people out to safety, one was a large public plane and the other was my own private futuristic jet, which i had somehow misplaced. so many people were gathering to get to the plane, while my friends were coming to get on mine, even people who i had not seen in years and weren’t really friends with.

  4. Hi Chris,
It sounds like there is some situation in your life where you are feeling exposed, not protected, and like there is no strong foundation (i.e. platforms in the air). You feel like you need to get out of this situation because some impending force (the storm) has the ability to destroy the platform you are on. This situation likely has to do either with your work, or with a relationship (is somebody ‘putting you on a platform’ that you fear will be knocked down?). The impending storm could be layoffs at work, or an argument in a relationship, and there are 2 ways out – one is public and the other is private. I love that you have your own private, futuristic jet! The fact that you misplaced it seems to indicate that you are having trouble accessing your ability to get out of this situation on your own.
I would love to hear your feedback on this interpretation and how it relates to what’s going on w/you right now.

  5. I’ve had a recurring dream where I am usually in a work situation and chewing gum. As the dream progresses, the wad of gum gets bigger in my mouth and starts to affect my speech. When I realize this is happening, I try to discreetly spit the gum out only to find that it has adhered to the inside of my mouth and has become much less pliable. It is still somewhat stretchy but the rest of the dream is spent pulling the gum from my teeth and tongue and struggling to talk. It is like a super-glue type gum that will only barely budge and only a small piece at a time. What’s up with that?

  6. Hi Jon,
The fact that the dream takes place in a work situation indicates that this dream is about something going on at work.
It is possible that you have some things you want to say but are unable to get the words out. The gum is affecting your speech, and there is something you ‘can’t get out of your mouth’ -the gum aka the words. You may try to ‘get it out discreetly’, but you are still ‘struggling to talk’, and no matter how hard you try you can’t seem to get it all out.
Is it possible that you are feeling overloaded by a work situation, and that the demands are growing (like the gum is growing)? And that you are getting little in return except frustration, and the situation may be challenging to get rid of (as the gum is difficult to get rid of)? If so, you might try to find ways to delegate some of the work load, say no to new requests, and focus on long term changes that will help keep you from being in this situation again. You don’t want to be ‘stuck’ with this forever! I wish you luck and would love to hear your feedback.

  7. Thanks Mimi,

That helped me realize so much in my life, even somethings that i would have never realized, such as feeling exposed, i do have some relationship problems which is probably the cause to the rest of the issues.
I will definitely come back for more dream interpretations.

  8. Hi Chris,
Great, I’m so glad this helped! Isn’t amazing the insights we can get from our dreams? Who knew a story about private jets and living in the air could have to do with a relationship. Thank you for sharing your dream and I look forward to hearing more!

  9. hey Mimi,

How are you? I have a question about dreams. I had a dream the other there where some girl was trying to kiss me and i turned a and i she some how sap my energy. A minute later, i see a black and white pictures like back in the TV and i see a guy getting whacked over the head next to the wall and drops dead. that’s when i wake up. My other dream was i was living with my brother in a house and all of the sudden, a tornado stirs up in our neighborhood. My brother gets comes outside with me and then gets pissed saying. “Great, it went over my house.” all angry, he goes inside. As for me, i was trying to go back into the house but i couldn’t physically go there. like if the wind was pushing me a way. then the tornado comes back to attack me. I see there’s like a string thing and i grab it from the tornado as if I’m trying to fling myself to the house. then all of the sudden, the tornado turns into this big ugly green monster and somehow, i absorb it into my body or the monster absorbs into me. That when i woke up.
I was wondering what the dreams mean if you could tell me. Some lady said that i should write something on your message borad.

    thanks

  10. Hello:)
I recently had a dream where I was in the bathroom at my house, with all my classmates in the back of the room and there was a scary atmosphere. I opened the door and there was a tornado outside my door with an evil smile and red eyes that looked as if a child had drawn it, then I slammed the door as I saw it rooming in the hallway. But it wasn’t sucking up anything or detroying anything. I opened the door again and it ways in the doorway to the garage, talking to my dad like they were old friends. It was freaky.

Another dream that I’ve had , it repeated for around three times so far. It starts when I come walking up my driveway comeing home from school, and I enter in my house. I call for my mom, dad, and my two brothers. No one answers. I walk down my hallway and open my parents door. the room starts to turn to red, and flames start to lick the walls, I find my families skeletens scattered around the room. I cry and force my self to turn around, and the house is in flames, consuming almost everything.I run to the front door, then start to faint. A hand catches my limp body, and pulls me to the front yard. I look up towards the sky, which is a flame with bombing airplanes. the stranger (who is a man) sets me on the ground and holds me. A huge bomb engulfs the rest of my house. Once the explosion dies down, my family- All intact with no marks on them, and there all alive- come out of the ruined house. They come running over and the stranger dissapers. My family gathers around me and stare at the house. We all cry, I look towards the hills and the stranger is waching me.
There is another version of this dream where I’m partly in control of it. When I come in the house, bombs start to fall, and I save all of my family members from there rooms where there sleeping.

I hope that you can help me:)

  11. Hi DD,
    Thanks for submitting your dreams!

Dream #1: There was a girl that was trying to kiss you, and you turned and she some how sapped you energy.
Kissing can be symbolic of any kind of connection. Someone is trying to connect with you, but then she ends up draining you of your energy. Can you think of a situation in waking life where someone is draining your energy? (It may or may not be a romantic situation, it could even be someone you are doing business with, or a friend for example).
Then you see black and white images of a guy getting whacked over the head and dropping dead. This could be a symbolic picture of how you feel after being with this person who is draining your energy. Like she whacked you and left you for dead! The fact that the image is in black and white is interesting and may be indicative of black and white thinking, or even of something outdated or ‘old’ (like old tv shows). Is this scenario a re-run of something you’ve experienced before?
It seems like this dream is pointing out to you that this person is unhealthy for you to be around.

    Dream #2
Tornados can be indicative of an emotional storm, or a situation where there is anger flying around. Are you and your brother fighting, or is there a situation at home where there is arguing going on? If it actually involves your brother, it seems like this dream is showing that his way of coping with things is to get angry, while you are left feeling ‘shut out’ (you are shut out of the home/ i.e. emotionally shut out). Then the tornado turns into a ‘big ugly green monster’. I always like to check the dreamers associations, but the well known stereo type for the ‘ugly green monster’ is jealously. The fact that the green monster absorbs into you makes me wonder if this situation leaves you with some feelings of jealousy. Are you feeling left out of a situation and it leads to jealous feelings? Remember, dreams deal with what’s going on with us right now, so think about what was going on in the day or two around the time when you had these dreams.
I would love to hear back from you on how this all fits for you.
    Thank you!
    -Mimi

  12. Hi Kari,
Here is my feedback on your dreams, please let me know if this helps:

    Dream #1: The Cartoon Tornado
Is your dad prone to fits of angry outbursts and a child-like temper? Tornadoes can represent anger, or emotional storms, but since you described it as looking ‘as if a child had drawn it’, that makes me think it is someone who has angry outbursts but in a really childish way. The reason I ask if it is your father, is because you describe him and the tornado as acting like old friends. In this dream you are hiding out in the bathroom, trying to stay away from this cartoon-ish tornado and the scary atmosphere it is creating, which is symbolic of your need to protect yourself when he (or anyone else) acts like this. The classmates who are with you could represent qualities within yourself that you have ‘on your side’ when trying to deal with this situation; it may also show that they are there for you to help you and support you.

Dream #2 Fire in the House
Recurring dreams happen when ever a certain life situation or issue repeats itself, so pay attention to what is going on when you have them. It sounds like something is happening with your family that feels quite devastating. It could be anger and fighting, but it could also be some other kind of force that is beyond your family’s control (such as if someone were battling an illness, or financial problems) that feels very destructive or devastating. The beautiful thing about this dream is that despite the destruction and devastation, you all come out of it OK! That is really great, and I hope that you will find this reassuring. As for the man who is a stranger and pulls you out of the fire – Wow, what another great symbol of hope! Some might say this is your Guardian Angel, or a kind of spirit watching over you. Others would say it’s part of your self that knows how to get you out of a bad or even dangerous situation. I like to leave it up to the dreamer as to what feels right for them and what they believe. No matter how you look at it, it is a great thing to know that you have that kind of energy on your side, whether it’s coming from within you or from somewhere else.
In the version of the dream where you go in and rescue all of your family, it is likely a symbolic representation of you stepping up to the plate and helping your family during a possible crisis situation. You sound like a very strong young woman. If you or your family are facing some challenging times, make sure you find ways outside of the family to get support for yourself, whether it’s from friends, a school counselor, or through other resources. I wish you luck and let me know if this helps!

  13. Hello:)

Thank you! Your interpreting has really helped! I guess that I didn’t relize that about my family so far. My grandfather has recently died and my grandmother is in the hospital, very ill, so mabye that is it.

  14. Hello again:)

I had another dream about two days ago. Me and Mom were bourding a glass ramp that was like a swirrly slide. We were one the top of it, underneth the parashutes, with many people with us. The glass slide started to lift off from the ground, and then we were flying. We seemed to talk about many things, we were happy and laughing, and then we landed in Canada. Then the cast of Mammia Mia danced off singing the Dancing Queen. We took off again after that. We talked a lot more, then we landed in China town. There was a huge store outside full of Christmas decorations for sale, and Mom and I meet up with my Dad, and My brothers Erik and Christopher. We all went shopping and my mom bought a light up train that looked like a stop sign with the red, green, and yellow lights on the side, and I bought 2 glow-in-the-dark- hola hoops. We paid for them, and I was sad as I looked around one last time, then we entered into a door with light pouring out of it, almost like heaven. As I stepped through the door In remember being alittle scared like I wasn’t going to see my family again, then I woke up, remembering every little detail of this dream. THe plants used, the peoples faces, the sky color, my feelings, and alot more. If I wrote down everything, this would be very long:)

    Thanks, Kari

  15. Hi Kari,
Thanks for posting another dream, wow what a unique one! It sounds like you are about to embark on a new adventure in your life, and it might feel like you are leaving your family behind. Are you planning on moving (for example), or going off to college? I ask because the overall gist of the dream seems to be about a beautiful connection w/your family, maybe even reviewing fond memories of being with them, and then a sadness in the end because it feels like it’s time to leave them. But the place you are going is heavenly! It sounds like this dream is marking a right of passage into a new chapter in your life. And it might feel like your mom doesn’t want you to go (the ‘stop light’ on the train). But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t really want you to go (it’s just how she feels emotionally), nor is the feeling that you will never see your family again to be taken literally. Dreams tend to exaggerate our feelings about things to illustrate their point.
If you wanted to go further I would ask you your associations with Canada, China Town, and hula hoops.
I hope this helped, and again please let me know your feedback!
    -Mimi
PS – I have been looking for a glow in the dark hula hoop, so let me know if you remember the name of the store where you got them – haha!

  16. Hello again,

i had this dream about a week ago, i was in a cabin in the woods with some girls i didnt know and some guy friends of mine. as we were approaching the cabin i saw a shadowy figure go into the woods. shortly after we got to the cabin i saw it again but this time it showed itself as a bigfoot, i ran to lock the doors and locked all of them except for one door that was bent somehow, i was able to fix it enough to lock the door. the bigfoot went to all the doors trying to open them, and finally went to the door that wouldnt lock and it just opened. we all ran to a car and went to leave, but i wanted to go back and catch the bigfoot, so we turned the car around and went speeding back passing several cars that were damaged and hadnt been there before, as we came to the cabin, the bigfoot was outside, i jumped from the car trying to grab him, but i missed. thats when i woke up.

  17. Hi Chris,
Thanks for writing again! This dream falls into the category of a ‘chase’ dream; something is pursuing you and you are trying to get away from it. The fact that you are willing to confront it is great, it shows you are willing and ready to confront or face whatever this situation is in your life.
Chase dreams can be about trying to get away from anything from our own fears or strong emotions, even addictions, relationships, dangerous situations, health issues, or anything that feels scary to us.
Now, what does this Bigfoot represent? I would love to ask you your associations with ‘Bigfoot’. If I came from another planet and I didn’t know what a bigfoot was, how would you describe one? Since the creature is big, it’s probably an issue that feels very big in your life, or is of big importance to you.
Sometimes dreams use plays on words – do you know anyone with big feet? Dreams can be funny that way!
I’d love to hear back and see what the bigfoot is and if the dream now makes sense to you. Since you were in the cabin with both girls and guys I wonder if it is relationship oriented?
    -Mimi
PS – I have a new form on my website called “Ask The Dream Detective” where you can submit dreams (you’ll find the link on the home page). It has some extra fields that will help me gather more information about the dream : )

  18. thank you so much again, this makes sense to me now. ive always had a strange fascination with bigfoot but this is the first ive dreamed of one. i believe the bigfoot is my relationship problems, as i had this dream before and simply ran away not wanting to confront it.

  19. i remember once i had a dream where my 7 year old brother had this huge smile on his face but it was abnormaly big and it was like his face was stuck in this smile and he couldent speak he just made like aa grouning sound and it was quite scary i think it was a lucid dream most dreams i have are i remember thinking is my brother disabled he kept walking up to me with this huge grin on his face grouning and i was scared the i opened this little box and he got sucked into it and then i woke up i remember feeling really sad when i woke up to what is this about

  20. Hi George,
I’m sorry this dream made you sad. It would be interesting to know if you had this dream as an adult or a child, since in the dream your brother was 7 years old.
When you were growing up was there a sense that your brother (and maybe you, too), had to ‘put a smile on your face’ no matter what – even if you were suffering inside (i.e. his groaning in the dream)? And that doing this in fact could be very emotionally disabling (symbolized in the dream by concern that he is disabled). The fact that he got sucked into the little box could be a sense that he had to ‘put himself in a box’ or stifle himself and not be allowed to truly express himself growing up. That would be really sad and I can see how this dream would make you feel that way. Think about whether this dream speaks to you about your brother, or even yourself, and whether this was something that happened growing up, and/or if it is still affecting you now. I’d love to hear back with your feedback.
    Thank you,
    Mimi

  21. I recently cut off contact with a guy friend because we sort of drifted apart and we rarely talk any more so I thought there’s no point in keeping his number because what’s the point of keeping someone’s number if you barely talk anymore. After deleting his number off my contacts, I dreamt of him twice in two different dreams in two nights. What does this dream mean?

    Lala

    1. Hi Lala,
Ask yourself for 3 words to describe this guy. Now are those 3 words descriptive of anything that you want more of in your life? In order to help you more I would need to know what was happening in the dream, not just who was in it. I do believe we can communicate with each other in our dreams so I don’t know if he was thinking of you, but most likely your dream just ‘cast’ him as a character for some reason based on something that he represents to you.
      Thanks for writing,
      Mimi

  22. I had a weird dream the other night. Ever since I was a kid I was afraid of confrotations with people. So in my mind I created an alter ego in my mind that was a completely different version of me. I got a little too into doing this ended up creating this person that I always dream about. So in my latest dream I was sitting down talking to my alter ego and I started feeling sexual feelings for him. And ended up persuing those feelings. I wanna know what this means because I am a straight male who has never had feelings for a guy.

  23. I had a dream that I was in a small house and the sky was dark and gloomy. All of a sudden I saw a tsunami approaching us through the window. I remember grabbing one of my daughter close to me, then my attention turned to the other window on the other side of he small house. I could clearly see a tornado approaching our direction FAST! Then the house swirled upside down with us in it and ended right there. What could this mean?

I’ve researched on dream interpretations relating to natural disasters. I’m not in a relationship so there are no volatile fights/arguments. As far as the personal/emotional state, my life is at a calm point with new plans and optimism for a business venture. Dreaming about this is kind of alarming. What gives?

  24. My dream may be different from the others..It’s kind of confusing for me, actually..Maybe this would need more info for you to figure out what this actually is..But, I dream about my best friend who is a male (I’m female). We’ve been friends since 2009 and I’ve only saw him twice since we graduated in 2011. We still stay in contact, but not as much as I want to since he’s pretty busy all the time. Anyways, my dreams always ends up being in school again. There were 3 other dreams that were different, 1 was where I was at his funeral, the second one was where we were somewhere else and kissed, and the 3rd one was when we were on a date..But, this is where the confusing part for me comes in..About 95% of the time when I dream about him, I either wake up to a facebook message from him or later on that day. This has been happening to me for well over 6 months now, not exactly when it first started, but it was definitely over 6 months ago. Is this just a coincidence? Or is there an actual reason behind why something weird like this is happening to me? Thanks.
