WHO IS THE DREAM DETECTIVE?

Hello, my name is Mimi. I’m a clinical and transpersonal hypnotherapist and coach who is passionate about exploring the mind-body connection with others.  I’ve been working with the subconscious mind for decades, and love understanding its language of symbols, images, metaphors, and…symptoms. In addition to dream work, I enjoy using my detective skills to help people explore their pain and symptom puzzles to make mind-body connections. Many of us have been considered medical mysteries, but I love a good mystery. After years of navigating the medical system for my own chronic pain including migraines, back, and neck pain, it’s only through mind-body modalities that my own recovery truly began. I find many parallels between dreams and the body; both express the subconscious mind and both hold meaningful messages for us.

My approach is client-centered, compassionate, and inclusive of all belief systems and orientations. I love working with humor, metaphor, and meditative, introspective processes to connect the wisdom of the body with the insight of the mind. For those interested, I offer a mind-body-spirit holistic approach as well. I draw on my training in psychology, hypnotherapy, guided imagery, dreamwork, parts work, spirituality, shadow work, and Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) to help clients listen to what their body is telling them. I love to help people feel empowered as they move towards recovery. As a survivor of narcissistic abuse, with training via Dr. Ramani Durvasula, I understand the significant role of the nervous system in healing both physical and emotional conditions, and my work is trauma-sensitive. I am passionate about guiding others on their path to healing and recovering a sense of safety in their body.

ON DREAMS:
Mimi Pettibone believes that our dreams and inner guidance can connect us with our subconscious mind, our deepest truth, and the infinite field of intelligence that surrounds us.  She first became fascinated with dreams as a little girl when she observed that many of her own dreams were precognitive. She always had an intuitive sense that her dreams must mean something, but didn’t know what, until she joined a dream group in college where she received her first understanding of how to work with dreams. Throughout her life Mimi has had many spiritual, psychic, and paranormal experiences, both in dreams and in the waking state. These have inspired her love for, and fascination with everything from psychology to parapsychology, consciousness, metaphysics, and all things psychic and paranormal. Her training in transpersonal and social psychology, hypnotherapy, guided imagery, symbolism, and metaphor, and the mind-body connection contribute to all of her work.

BACKGROUND:

Mimi Pettibone is a transpersonal and clinical hypnotherapist, dream worker, and mind-body coach who works with private clients and groups worldwide. She has a special niche working with the subconscious mind and the mind-body connection to help people recover from emotional and physical conditions that are neuroplastic in nature (i.e. re-wiring neural pathways for healing). She loves helping people explore their inner world and uncover the answers from within.

Her background includes training in the social psychology of Transactional Analysis (T.A.) which explores relationships, communication, life scripts, and parts work. Much of her work also falls under the umbrella of transpersonal psychology, with the belief that we each have a unique purpose in life. Her work includes modalities such as guided imagery, hypnotherapy, meditation, dream work, art therapy, and parts work including Voice Dialogue, Internal Family Systems or IFS, Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP, Gestalt, and Focusing. She has studied with leading attachment theory and trauma experts, and as an empath she has a special interest in, and understanding of, the empath-narcissist relationship.

As a survivor of chronic pain who is certified in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), she has a special place in her heart for helping people recover from chronic pain and other symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, and long term health conditions. As a survivor of narcissitic abuse who has trained with Dr. Ramani Durvasula, her focus has always been client-centered, helping people access their own inner truth (not telling them what to do). She loves helping others connect with their authentic sense of self, find their truth and purpose, develop self-trust, and recover a sense of safety in their body.

As part of her mission to share dream and consciousness-related information Mimi created The Dream Detective podcast which explores the mysteries of the mind, body, spirit, and dreams. She is also a dream columnist, blogger, and media guest and has been a consultant for television, film, theater, and video productions on the topic of dreams. Her guided meditation recordings include topics such as dream incubation, inner guidance, and letting go of perfectionism, and can be found on YouTube and the Insight Timer meditation app. Mimi is the author of the Enchanted Art Oracle card deck (a bestseller on Etsy.com), which pairs beautiful vintage artwork with messages designed to help you live your most authentic life.

Mimi has brought her gifts to companies such as Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon, and high end private social clubs to educate, inspire, enrich, and entertain. She follows her dreams and inner guidance as her compass to navigate life, and loves helping others do the same.

“I am fascinated by everything from the practical application of using dreams to problem solve, to the mystical realm of intuition and psychic phenomena. The insights from our dreams can help us connect with our talents and life purpose, and show us how to find, create, and keep good relationships. They can also help strengthen our connection to our intuition and inner guidance, which is something I love helping people do.”
